What is Eucharist Adoration and why does it matter?
To help give some clarity and understanding of Eucharistic Adoration, I would like to share with you some snippets from a document1 from the Office of Worship from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
“To adore God is to acknowledge him as God, as the Creator and Savior, the Lord and Master of everything that exists, as infinite and merciful Love. In Luke 4:8 Jesus cites Deuteronomy: "You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve."
“As Christ speaks to us and as we walk with him as disciples, our hearts burn with love. Our relationship leads us to take time to sit with him and remember what he has done and taught. We want to reflect and meditate on all that He is and all he offers. We want to contemplate the face of God revealed in Christ through the Holy Spirit. Christ promises to be with us until the end of time.”
“Christ’s presence allows us to encounter him time and again. Of the many ways in which Christ is present in the Church, the Eucharist is cherished as the means par excellence.”
If we want any personal relationship to grow, we must spend time with that individual in a setting with family and friends, as well as, time alone. It is only right that we fully participate in our Sunday Eucharist and to spend time alone with to grow our personal relationship our Lord Jesus Christ.
After consecration of the Eucharist, the bread and wine are no longer bread and wine but the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Eucharist that is unable to be consumed during Mass is reserved in the tabernacle. Jesus is truly present in the tabernacle.
I invite you, this Lent to spend time in adoring our Lord Jesus Christ in the tabernacle or during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
On the back of this page is a further explanation of our 2022 Lenten Eucharist Adoration Challenge. We hope that you take up this challenge as a way to deepen your relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ
In prayer and gratitude,

2022 Lenten Eucharistic Adoration Challenge
Lent calls us to grow deeper in our relationship with our Lord through fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. This Lent we hope that you will take up this Lenten Eucharistic Adoration Challenge and make Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament a part of your Lenten prayer practice.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says: “Two are better than one...If the one falls, the other will help the fallen one. But woe to the solitary person! If that one should fall, there is no other to help.” As followers of Christ we do not need to be a solitary people. We have our fellow disciples to help support us!
Everyone is encouraged to have a prayer partner to help support and encourage one another with this Lenten Adoration Challenge. Prayer partners are welcome to attend adoration together or separately but prayer partners should check in with each other weekly.
To grow our personal relationship with the Lord everyone is encourage to make a commitment of spending 30 or 60 minutes in Eucharist Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every week this Lent.
